WATCH: A Look Back at Ed Thomas’ Death & the Mark Becker Murder Trial

This is probably one of the very first pieces i have had to edit/create that created a lot of emotion in the edit bay. I never knew Coach Thomas personally however he was a person that you would never forget personally or professionally. I interviewed Coach many of times, from going days after the tornado to the friday night football games. I will always remember one thing that happened one game, Scott Saville needed someone to shoot a interview with him and i was rushing to edit a package for the 10 o clock news. It was the first game after the tornado so we where all in a rush. I ran out with Scott knowing his battery was near empty but we needed to get that last good sound from Coach after the game. He had just finished his address to the fans and players that you see at the end of the video and we go him for a quick interview. During the interview the camera dies, the light goes out, and it starts to flash B in the viewfinder. It could not of picked a better time to quit because we caught him at the very best moment or as you would say in the moment. We failed to pick up half the interview so we had to go find coach again for a second interview. I remember finding him and apologizing that we had some technical issues but he was fine with it and understood the problem. That seemed to be his attitude every time i met him, someone who understood and was compassionate with everyone. He was a leader in Parkersburg and a role model for every male he came in contact with. Ill keep my small memories in my mind for life even tho they where not personal. It still meant something to know who he was and stood for. FFF Faith Family Football.
