Iowa City Police Look For Suspect in Stabbing
IOWA CITY- Police in Iowa City continue to investigate a stabbing that happened in an east side apartment complex.
Officers say they got a call to 3503 Shamrock Place sometime after 8:30 p.m. Saturday night. When officers arrived they found a very confused scene and as of news time are still trying to sort out the situation.
Lt. Doug Hart, the commander on the scene, told TV9 that paramedics found a victim, a male, inside the apartment with an apparent stab wound. The paramedics treated the man at the scene and then transported him to University of Iowa Hospitals and clinics. The stabbing victim was not identified and police did not know if the wound was life threatening.
Police say a woman, possibly a neighbor, might have had some involvement and police were trying to locate her for questioning. They have not named the woman as a suspect in the case just yet.
Lt. Hart said because a number of people are involved, it’s taking some time to get statements and piece together what happened inside the apartment. “That’s what we are working on. We have one side…a third party side…and we’re waiting to talk to both people to see how things occurred,” Lt. Hart said.
Iowa City Police did not know how long the investigation would take nor did they reveal any details about the stabbing itself.
